Job summary

Virginia Department of Corrections seeks an Assistant Warden for Keen Mountain Correctional Center. The role directs security operations and oversees Treatment, Medical, Safety and Food Service departments, ensuring daily operations align with public safety mission.

The position provides leadership, develops and counsels staff, partners with Warden on long-term planning, and communicates with staff, inmates, and the public to maintain secure operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience supervising corrections staff.
• Extensive and progressive security management experience in corrections or law enforcement.
• DCJS Certification.
• Knowledge of VADOC policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and the public.

Responsibilities

• Directs activities of Security, Treatment, Medical, Safety and Food Service departments.
• Oversees daily facility operations in the absence of the Warden.
• Leads, develops, counsels and disciplines staff.
• Assists the Warden in long-term planning and contingency development.
• Interacts with management, staff, inmates and the public to maintain secure operations.
