Job summary

Village of Buffalo Grove is seeking an Assistant Village Engineer to oversee the Engineering Division’s technical, supervisory, and administrative work. The role supports the Village Engineer and helps develop engineering staff, plans, and CIP projects.

The position emphasizes stormwater management, drainage, and regulatory compliance, with duties including plan reviews, bid document preparation, inspections, and grant administration. A PE license in Illinois is required.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license issued by the State of Illinois.
• Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or Business Administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans, plats, drainage studies, stormwater reports, specifications, and supporting calculations for private developments for compliance with Village ordinances and codes.
• Prepares and reviews specifications, bid documents, and cost estimates; provides technical direction to consultants and staff during design and construction.
• Coordinates field inspections and construction observations for public infrastructure and private development projects to ensure conformance with approved plans.
