The person in this position leads and directs employees under divisional responsibility to ensure proper maintenance of equipment; develops and facilitates safety, training, and mentoring of all divisional mechanical employees under the position's jurisdiction; ensures compliance with all OSHA regulations and G&W safety rules for Mechanical Department employees; and meets department safety and budgetary goals. He or she represents G&W as a responsible corporate citizen to the public; protects the environment according to G&W policy and appropriate state and federal law; manages the maintenance and repair of freight cars to meet AAR, FRA, and company standards and to reduce life-cycle cost and increase availability. Ability to build financial business plans for long-term growth strategies, for internal car repair shops and contractors.
