Job summary

PIERGALLINI TRUCKING LLC is seeking an Assistant Transportation Manager in Cadiz, OH, to help oversee daily trucking and fleet operations and ensure on-time deliveries. You will coordinate driver schedules, routes, and maintenance alongside the Lead Mechanic, while supporting DOT compliance and safety requirements.

The role involves cross-location coordination, customer communication, and record-keeping with a family-oriented culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in trucking/logistics or transportation management preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, and HOS rules.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with transportation management software (TMS) or dispatch systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing daily transportation and fleet operations to ensure on-time delivery and compliance.
• Coordinate driver schedules, routes, and load assignments to maximize efficiency.
• Work with Lead Mechanic to monitor fleet maintenance schedules, inspections, and DOT compliance requirements.
• Serve as a point of contact for drivers, addressing concerns and providing operational support.
• Post schedule daily in company time keeping application.
• Assist with the track and management of vehicle registrations, permits, insurance documentation, and driver files.
• Coordinate with other business locations for transportation/delivery needs.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal team members daily to schedule freight and ensure timely deliveries.
• Maintain accurate records of fleet activity, fuel usage, mileage, and operational costs.
• Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to increase fleet efficiency.
• Address unexpected issues such as vehicle breakdowns, route changes, or delays promptly to maintain smooth operations.
• Assist in acquiring new vehicles and disposing of retired assets according to company policy.
• Coordinate annual vehicle physicals: DOT inspections, state safety inspections, and emissions testing as required.

• Maintain and order gravel, mulch, and top-soil supply for yard
• Draft quotes for customers and stay up to date of pricing and permitting
• Adheres to company rules and regulations
• Maintains good attendance, is on-time and dependable
• Performs other duties and responsibilities required by business conditions or as assigned by Management

Requirements:

• Previous experience in trucking, logistics, or transportation management preferred
• Familiarity with DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, and HOS rules
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with drivers, staff, and customers
• Proficiency with transportation management software (TMS) or dispatch systems is a plus
• Valid Drivers License
• Clean Driving Record
• CDL license or hands-on trucking experience is a strong advantage
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to make quick, sound decisions
