Job summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC is seeking a qualified supervisor to oversee a maintenance crew, ensuring quality work and safety on RJ Corman Railroads at Chadbourn, NC. The role emphasizes FRA compliance, daily reporting, and cross-divisional coordination.

Candidates should have 3–5 years track maintenance experience, strong communication and supervisory skills, and the ability to multitask and analyze. Comprehensive benefits and a drug-free workplace are offered.

Qualifications

• Prefer related work experience of at least 3-5 years involving track inspection, repair, and maintenance.
• Strong understanding of FRA rules and regulations required.
• Must have good communication skills and good employee relations.
• Should be multi-task oriented and possess good analytical skills.
• Computer application skills required, and previous supervisory type experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees maintenance gang to ensure quality maintenance and safe work performance.
• Ensures the safety of employees performing maintenance related activities on RJ Corman Railroads.
• Ensures track meets all requirements for RJC and FRA.
• Ensures that employees adhere to all FRA related rules and regulations.
• Undertakes supervision of special projects as assigned.
• Completes and maintains all daily maintenance forms including, Daily Production Report, Hot Work Permit, Rail Added Report, etc.
• Maintains close communication with all operating divisions to discuss and address daily issues and/or concerns as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Specialized Or Technical Knowledge, Or Education And Experience

Physical Requirements

• Able to perform physical strenuous work
• Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs
• Requires occasional use of 30lb claw bar to remove spikes, requiring application of 50lbs of force
• Requires occasional use of 10lb sledge hammer to drive spikes, requiring application of 75lbs of force
• Able to walk, climb, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders, uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner
• Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary

Environmental Conditions

Performs duties in job-site environments, in and around moving locomotives, railcars, vehicles and equipment. Frequent exposure to weather elements; and appropriate PPE required for job site visits.
