Overview

Valparaiso University invites applications for an Assistant Track and Field Coach specializing in the Multi-Events. This coach will be responsible for the development of athletes competing in decathlon, heptathlon, and open event specialties. The role includes practice planning, technical instruction, recruiting, and assisting with meet operations. The ideal candidate is committed to building a competitive, supportive, and academically-focused team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage training plans across all ten (men) or seven (women) multi-event disciplines.
  • Provide individualized technical instruction in events such as jumps, throws, hurdles, and sprints.
  • Assist with team operations, meet planning, and logistics.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes who can succeed both athletically and academically.
  • Promote academic achievement and personal growth among student-athletes.
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with NCAA and institutional policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Coaching or competitive experience in multi-events.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other event coaches.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Additional Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Previous collegiate coaching experience
  • Experience coaching horizontal jumps, pole vault, and/or throws
