Job summary

Valparaiso University seeks an Assistant Athletics Director for Events & Facilities to partner with the events team on managing all athletic events and rentals. The role also oversees the equipment room and day-to-day operations across facilities.

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) and 2–3 years of Division I athletic event management experience, with ability to manage student staff and coordinate budgets. Full-time on-site position in Valparaiso, IN.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in event setup and management of all athletic events and rentals.
• Hire student workers to handle setup and breakdown of events.
• Lead weekly game day operations meetings for smooth operation on game days.
• Coordinate building access with the OneCard office to keep access up to date.
• On-site management for Valpo athletic contests, including hosting MVC championships as needed.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the equipment room.
• Coordinate with teams on purchasing, inventory, tracking, distribution and care of equipment within budget.
• Ensure proper fitting and maintenance of all sports equipment per safety guidelines.
• Maintain and upkeep athletic facilities including Brown Field, Emory Bauer Field and Softball Complex.
• Other duties as assigned.

Assistant Athletics Director for Events & Facilities

Position Description:

This position will work in partnership with the Assistant Director of Events and Facilities on the management of all events within the Department of Athletics at Valparaiso University. This position will also oversee the Athletic Department Equipment Room.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist in event set up and management of all athletic events and rentals.
• Hire staff of student workers to handle setup/breakdown of events.
• Lead weekly game day operations meetings to ensure smooth operation on game days.
• Work with OneCard office to ensure that all building access is up to date throughout the year.
• On-site management for Valpo athletic contests. This will include hosting any Missouri Valley Conference Championships and rentals as needed.
• Oversee the services and day to day operations of the equipment room.
• Coordinate with teams to manage purchasing, inventory, tracking, distribution and care of athletic equipment and supplies while staying within their respective budget.
• Ensure proper fitting and maintenance of all sports equipment including helmets and pads to provide a safe environment for student athletes per AEMA guidelines.
• Upkeep and maintenance of all athletic fields to include Brown Field, Emory Bauer Field and Softball Complex and areas surrounding these facilities.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Bachelor's Degree ( Master's Degree preferred)

2-3 year experience in Division I athletic event management preferred.

Other Qualifications:

Ability to manage student staffing and recruit students to work.
