Job summary

The Town of Andover, through Andover Public Schools, seeks a Civil Engineer to lead DPW survey activities and prepare designs, specifications, and cost estimates for public works projects. You will inspect construction and assist the Town Engineer in directing division members.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, five years of related experience, and registration as an Engineer in Training in Massachusetts; Professional Engineer registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Five years of progressively responsible related experience.
• Certification as an engineer in training or surveyor in training, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead DPW survey activities, prepare calculations and field records, conduct deed research, and liaise with private engineers and surveyors.
• Direct a field survey crew, design and prepare specifications, layout and inspect public works projects for water, sewer, drainage and road rebuilding.
• Provide technical assistance to town departments and review submissions for public works projects.
