Job description

The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the classroom with the general supervision

and management of a class of children. He or she must be knowledgeable in developmentally

appropriate practices; and have flexible hours that cover the needs of the center. The co-teacher/assistant is responsible for assisting teachers in supervising all children in their room ensuring

activities and curriculum are adhered to as required by the director.

Responsibilities:

• Helps and supervises children during all activities
• Counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise
• Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained
• Helps children with mealtimes and clean-up
• Helps with all academy and classroom paperwork, such as daily tracking notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested
• Performes other duties as assigned
• Work together with other educators, discussing your progress and sharing ideas
