Job summary

Berea College is seeking an Assistant Teacher for the Child Development Lab. You will collaborate with the Lead Teacher to create a safe, stimulating environment and step into leadership during the Lead Teacher’s absence.

Responsibilities include planning daily schedules, documenting development, and engaging families and students with professional communication. The role requires a CDA, an associate degree in Early Childhood Education preferred, and about two years of related experience in

Qualifications

• CDA credential required.
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Two years related experience (paid and/or supervised) in childcare or an early childhood education classroom is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage with children in intentional ways.
• Document play and assess development with the Lead Teacher.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate daily schedules and emergent curriculum.
• In absence of the Lead Teacher, assume leadership in the classroom.
• Maintain files and portfolios documenting each child's development.
• Communicate with families, co-workers, and students professionally.
