Job summary

Child Development Schools in Durham, North Carolina, is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our collaborative classroom team. You will support the Lead Teacher with age-appropriate activities, help create a warm, safe, and engaging learning environment, and foster curiosity and kindness in young children.

Day-to-day duties include assisting with lessons, maintaining a clean classroom, observing children, communicating with families, and helping with attendance and daily reports.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with families.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom meeting licensing and ratio requirements.
• Engage with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time.
• Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher.
• Build relationships with families through daily communication.
• Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports.
