Position Details

• Title: Assistant Teacher
• Company: Chicago Youth Centers (CYC)

• Compensation: $37,440 - $48,000 per year; commensurate with education, credentials & experience
• Classification: Full Time; Exempt
• Reports to: Childcare Director
• Location: CYC Centro Nuestro Center at 3222 W. Division St (Chicago, IL)
• Schedule: 8:30a - 5:00p; Monday - Friday; schedule varies depending on program needs

Purpose

The Assistant Teacher helps create an environment that promotes learning across physical, social-emotional, and intellectual development. They collaborate with Teachers to promote parent involvement.

Responsibilities

• Assist in providing a learning environment that promotes development in all areas
• Participate in developmental screenings, review health records, and observe children’s behavior and progress
• Support in creating a child-centered environment with individualized and group activities
• Help develop weekly lesson plans and daily schedules based on program focus
• Assist in administering growth and development screenings
• Review medical records and coordinate with social service staff for individual plans
• Observe and assess children’s behavior, maintaining records of growth patterns
• Conduct home visits and parent conferences to discuss development and encourage participation

Minimum Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or a BA Degree with thirty (30) credit hours in Early Childhood Education
• 1-2 years of related experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
