POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will be responsible for assisting with the growth, direction, and maintenance of Messina Hof Hill Country’s Tasting Room and Manor Haus Bed and Breakfast. This position will assist in the daily operations, achieving sales objectives, and training staff at Messina Hof Hill Country. In the absence of the General Manager, this position will be responsible for all Tasting Room operations. This position is also responsible for the planning and execution of all events.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Facilitate Messina Hof’s high standard of cleanliness and organization in all areas of the Tasting Room including, food areas, deck area, preparation areas, restrooms, and Manor Haus
• Assist the General Manager in all operations and duties of Messina Hof Hill Country
• Responsible for the personnel management and training, included but not limited to, interviewing potential candidates, overseeing training of new part-time associates, and management of ongoing part-time associates.
• Develop sales, achieve sales goals, and control expenses to make the Tasting Room most profitable and run within budgetary guidelines
• Conduct the shopping and oversee the preparation of all food purchased and used for the MHHC food menu
• Responsible for maintaining accurate and in budget costs on all prepared foods.
• Develop and achieve sales goals for Membership and Wine Club
• Target, promote, solicit, lead, and coordinate groups for tours, tastings, personalized labels, and events.
• Promote education, sales, tastings, and parties at the winery
• Identify and communicate all items to be promoted based on goals to sales staff
• Responsible for cash handling duties including making cash transactions, verifying cash drawer, and giving change, as well as making cash deposits and preparing the weekly packet that is sent to Messina Hof Bryan.
• Responsible for opening and closing procedures
• Responsible for the care and maintenance of the Manor Haus
• Sell, plan, and coordinate in-house events
• Sell, plan, and coordinate contracted events (including but not limited to conferences, corporate dinners, sorority/fraternity events, pharmaceutical events, and charity events)
• Coordinate dates and times of all events, cost per event and issue proper paperwork
• Responsible for planning, events set-up, execution, tear down and clean-up of events
• Determine number of guests and notify affected departments of changes for pending events
• Schedule and supervise staff during events
• Oversee the scheduling for all Messina Hof Hill Country staff, including shift needs from the on-call staff members.
• Communicate with guests, co-workers, and business associates in a courteous and professional manner. Must be people and hospitality oriented.
• Responsible for inventory control and warehouse management, including but not limited to, monthly truck orders, EOM wine inventory and quarterly Gift Shop and Gourmet Food Inventory.
• Engage in Membership and Wine club customer service activities, database maintenance, and duties to enhance the retention of memberships.
• Assist the Membership Department in the execution of in-house Wine Club and VIP events, such as VIP Receptions and Wine Club Pick-Up Parties, to maximize attendance and sales.
• Communicate and educate information that is passed from the DTC Department to the staff at Messina Hof Hill Country
• Increase Membership and Wine Club sales
• Perform other duties as required including assisting other departments as needed

• Related degree and/or 3-5 years related experience
• Good management and leadership skills and ability to supervise
• Ability to operate a personal computer and be familiar with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, POS, etc. Ability to run registers, post daily sales and reconcile monies. Ability to read P&L’s and control cost centers.
• Must have active TABC and Food Handler certifications at all times.
• Must have valid Driver’s License
