Job summary

Freedom Leisure invites applications for an Assistant Swim Teacher at Stone Leisure Centre, in partnership with Stafford Borough Council. You will help deliver swimming lessons to customers of all ages and abilities, under the guidance of qualified swim teachers.

This role offers training support, a friendly team, and flexible hours. Applicants should have Level 1 Swim Teaching qualification or be willing to obtain it, and be prepared for an Enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills required for engaging with customers and parents.
• Ability to work well with children and their guardians.
• DBS check required before start and ongoing as part of safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering swimming lessons to customers of all ages and abilities.
• Communicate with children’s parents/guardians about progress and development.
• Assist in supervising the pool and surroundings to ensure safety and discipline.
• Demonstrate excellent communication with customers and colleagues.
• Interact with children and their parents to support learning goals.
• Maintain Level 1 Swim Teaching qualification or willingness to gain it.
• DBS check must be completed.

Come and join our friendly and professional Swim Teacher Team at Stone Leisure Centre, in partnership with Stafford Borough Council, our centre provides swimming lessons over 7 days a week, to include mornings and evenings, as well as having an onsite Costa, 2 class studios, MyRide studios and a state-of-the‑art gym.

In the role of Assistant Swim Teacher, you will be helping our Swim Teachers to deliver lessons to customers of all ages and abilities ensuring they feel supported and are achieving their goals.

If you like talking to people, this is definitely the role for you. We understand that engaging with customers and colleagues is not as easy as it sounds and sometimes comes with experience. We will provide all the training needed to be a successful Swim Teacher but we also believe that employing people from a mix of employment backgrounds can offer a wider benefit to our team, some of which might be in their first ever job and need more support from their manager and colleagues.

Hours: Casual, as and when required.

• To assist children and/or adults as part of the Leisure Centre’s swimming lesson programme, according to qualification, training and experience
• To communicate with the children’s parents/guardians concerning their development, and advise on their progression through the programme
• To assist in the supervision of customers in the swimming pool and surrounds, ensuring their safety and discipline
• Excellent communication skills with a genuine desire to work closely with customers.
• An ability to deal with children and their parents
• Level 1 Swim Teaching qualification or willingness to gain the qualification
• Enhanced DBS check
