Job summary

Zia Uddin University Hospital – NORTH CAMPUS is seeking an Assistant Supervisor in Lab Special Hematology. The role oversees daily lab operations, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety, with a focus on timely testing and quality control. Required: B.Sc.

in Biological Sciences (M.Sc. preferred) and one year of Medical Technology training, plus 1–2 years as Senior Charge Technologist and 3–4 years supervisory experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

Supervises the technical and administrative activities of the assigned department of Clinical Laboratories on a daily basis through visual inspection to ensure smooth operation, according to Laboratory protocols.

• Responsible for timely ordering of supplies of the department to ensure that tests are not delayed or discontinued due to non-availability of Kits/Reagents or consumables.
• Assures daily or appropriate running of controls (positive & negative) and maintains quality control records, equipment maintenance, staff training and safety/incidents records.
• Responsible to implement safety regulations within the assigned department according to Safety Manual through weekly random checks and personal observations to ensure safety of staff, workers and visitors.
• Updates all departmental Manual/procedures/policies on yearly basis and/or as required in consultation with Department Head and Lab Manager.
• Presents departmental quality indicators in Quality Assurance Control Committee meetings (QACC).
• Supervises the technical and administrative activities of the assigned department of Clinical Laboratories on a daily basis to ensure smooth operations.
• Assigns bench work and various duties/responsibilities among the department's staff through adequate distribution of workload on a rotational basis and by making duty Rota to ensure that reports are ready on time.
• Handles departmental administrative matters such as attendance, disciplines, and counseling through random checks to ensure that the laboratory and institutional policies are implemented regularly.
• Prepares department Manuals/Policies in consultation with the Department Head and Lab Manager.
