The Assistant Supervisor is responsible for providing staff training, mentoring and supervision of 5-15 direct reports. The Supervisor will need to be able to provide program oversight, quality assurance, maintain NYS regulations, oversee clinical programming, be an advocate for the people we support and be a liaison with families.

The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for working directly with people of all ages with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities, creating new opportunities for Living, Loving, Working, and Learning. We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic Assistant Supervisor to work with this active group of people, who has the ability to handle challenging situations with patience and understanding.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Ensuring the health, safety, and habilitation of the people we support is consistent with agency philosophy and department practice.
  2. Ensuring the appropriate, therapeutically documented level of supervision in the residence, day program or community to ensure and protect the health and/or safety of the people we support.
  3. Providing program/floor coverage.
  4. Promoting and maintaining the excellence of our programs.
  5. Involving family members and other stakeholders, including professionals, in the team process.
  6. Keeping staff informed by attending meetings and delivering “the message” consistently.
  7. Fostering professional development through regular supervision, training, and evaluations.
  8. Supervising staff to ensure that they meet the needs of the people we support, agency standards, and develop professionally through the supervisory process.
  9. Bringing the organizational culture to life.
  10. Ensuring a work environment that is free from harassment and discrimination.
  11. Actively participate in the hiring process.
  12. Maintaining direct relationships with staff.
  13. Building staff morale.
  14. Utilizing participatory management.
  15. Fostering the Open-Door Policy.
  16. Nurturing staff development Supervising/Managing teams.
  17. Maintaining oversight and compliance of systems specific to role and responsibilities.
  18. Fostering communication between relevant supports including those within the program, within the agency, and supports outside the agency.
  19. Required to perform your responsibilities as they currently exist or may change in meeting the needs of the department, under the supervision of your supervisor/manager.

Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday 3pm-11pm

Education and Experience:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Some College Preferred
  3. Prior Direct Support Professional experience preferred
  4. Background in supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities or mental health preferred

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  2. Well-developed writing skills
  3. The ability to accept and apply feedback
  4. Highly flexible personality type
  5. Valid Driver's License preferred depending on location
  6. Flexibility adjusting your schedule to meet programmatic needs
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office
  8. Ability to learn/use Workforce Management software to effectively carry out essential business processes

Compensation: $22.37/hour
