Coosa Country Club, established in 1909, is a historic private golf club in Rome, Georgia, featuring a George Cobb design and a Beau Welling re-design. Known for hosting major amateur golf tournaments, the club's 18-hole course boasts Pure Distinction bentgrass greens, bermuda/zoysia grass tees, bermuda grass fairways and rough, and fescue rough in common areas.
We seek a hardworking, self-driven, and highly motivated individual for this hands-on position, which offers opportunities for career advancement. The role requires obtaining a Georgia pesticide applicator license within 6 months of employment. This position is ideal for recent college graduates eager to start their careers in golf course management.
Recent improvements include: Complete USGA greens construction restoration, bunker renovation, and irrigation system overhaul (2022-2023).
The Assistant Superintendent will develop skills in managing golf course maintenance through training and practical experience. The role involves assisting with golf course operations, spraying applications, irrigation, and team development, aiming to lay a strong foundation for a future Golf Course Superintendent.
Primary responsibilities include supporting the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent in supervising maintenance staff, applying pesticides and fertilizers, and participating in irrigation repair, greens management, and course setup. The position involves weekend crew management every third weekend.
We emphasize building both technical and professional skills. The Assistant will work closely with the management team to gain insights and guidance, fostering growth and promotion within the golf course industry.
Uniforms, golf privileges, lunch, personal and vacation time, medical/dental/vision insurance (90% paid), 401K with match, and GCSAA dues.
Up to $45,000 - $55,000 annually, depending on experience.
