Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission seeks an experienced Assistant Superintendent to lead hospital support services and ensure continuous operations of 24/7 facilities. You will guide staff, enforce safety and compliance, and align initiatives with the agency's strategic plan.

The role requires deep managerial experience in large facilities, expertise in budgeting, policy deployment, and cross‑department coordination to support patient care environments and asset management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and at least four (4) years of management experience in a hospital, governmental agency, residential facility or where work involved supervising/directing multiple staff members and establishing long-term goals and short-term plans for the assigned area.
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; and at least two (2) years of management experience in a hospital, governmental agency, residential facility, or where work involved supervising/directing multiple staff members and establishing long-term goals and short-term plans for the assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
• Serves as a designee in the absence of the Superintendent and as an Administrative Officer on Call/Duty in rotation with other executive staff. Directs and oversees the organization and operation of the hospital support services to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and executes the SH Superintendent’s goals and vision for the SH.
• Develops goals and objectives to ensure living conditions, food services, and other areas in the division is consistent with the SH strategic plan, the Joint Commission and CMS conditions of participation, Texas Administrative Code, Uniform Building Codes, Life Safety Code, State Fire Marshall and SORM standards, and Life Safety Code regulations.
