Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Director of Support Services (DSS Manager III) at the State Hospital in Rusk, TX. The role oversees plant maintenance, grounds, motor pool, food services, housekeeping, and laundry operations to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient facility operations.

The position requires strong leadership, budgeting, and coordination with state offices, with a focus on meeting Joint Commission, CMS, TAC standards and emergency management.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with major coursework in business administration, architectural construction methods, public administration, or related field.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in the management of maintenance, housekeeping, food service, risk management, safety, or a related support-operation.
• Graduation from an accredited two-year college with major coursework in business administration, architectural construction methods, public administration, or related field; and four years of related experience; or six years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or rotating schedule.
• Provides leadership and plans, assigns, and supervises the activities of support services departmental staff.
• Ensures facility compliance with operational standards set by HHSC and regulatory bodies.
