Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You’ll assist with daily activities, merchandise flow, and opening/closing duties while upholding company standards.

The role requires strong communication, a customer-first approach, and the ability to lead in a high-energy retail environment. Training and supervision of store associates are part of the responsibilities, with emphasis on safety and asset protection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties as needed
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional displays and store fixtures
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets including cash
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures and train/store associates
• Support Store Manager in supervising and developing Store Associates
• Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful store environment
• Ensure bathrooms and common areas are clean and presentable
• Fulfill other duties as assigned
