Job summary

Family Dollar in Lorain, OH is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support day-to-day store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with opening and closing, merchandise flow, and supervising store associates to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming shopping environment.

Key responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring promotional displays, handling merchandise, and maintaining store cleanliness in a fast-paced retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe environment with professional interactions.
• Ensure store cleanliness and restocking, including bathrooms, floors, and trash.
• Other duties as assigned.
