Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Houston, TX. This role supports store operations, customer service, and team development while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and staff.

The position involves leading day-to-day activities, supervising associates, and upholding company policies, with a focus on safety, merchandise flow, and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store preferred.
• Lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize, transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and loss prevention.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and supervise/store associates behavior.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, respectful environment for customers and staff.
