Job summary

Food Lion on Hilton Head Island is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, lead a team, and drive sales while upholding our customer service standards. You will hire and train associates, manage performance, and ensure compliance with safety, security, and food safety protocols.

This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to work across departments.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent preferred
• Department Manager or equivalent experience required
• Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions
• Accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or able to achieve accreditation within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and develop associates
• Manage performance through coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts
• Provide leadership to promote a culture reflecting Guiding Principles and Core Values
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer service
• Ensure proper control of store funds and assets
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions and comply with safety standards
• Utilize financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, CAO, and business information systems
• Support achievement of store budgeted financial and operating results
• Serve as Manager on Duty when Store Manager is absent
• Assist Store Manager with day-to-day operations
• Model desired customer service and instill it in associates
• Adhere to guidelines, policies and standard practices
• Maximize sales and minimize shrink via standard practices
• Ensure compliance with regulations and staffing needs
• Interact with associates to ensure training and expectations
• Complete CBT, CBT packets, and training aids
• Treat store information as confidential
• Perform other duties as assigned
