Job summary

Family Dollar in Roswell, NM is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily store operations, customer service, and team development.

You will assist with merchandise flow from delivery to floor, open/close procedures, and uphold corporate directives while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

This role relies on strong communication, organization, leadership, and a people‑oriented approach to support the Store Manager and drive store performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read and interpret operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Open and close procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping and loss prevention
• Maintain clean, stocked store areas
• Protect and secure store assets including cash
• Adhere to policies and ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure positive, safe environment with professional interactions
• Ensure store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash, etc.
• Other duties as assigned
