Job summary

Family Dollar in Elkhart, Indiana is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, deliver outstanding customer service, and support the development of our store team.

You will assist with merchandising, cash handling, scheduling, opening/closing procedures, loss prevention, and adherence to corporate directives while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers and associates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe environment with professional interactions with customers, associates, and leaders.
• Maintain cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, trash, and neat store presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
