Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to direct all store operations, drive sales, and develop a high-performing team in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. You will ensure safety, labeling, health, and sanitation standards while overseeing the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.

The role requires strong leadership, P&L awareness, and the ability to motivate a team of Department Managers and Receivers.

Qualifications

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business management, marketing, retailing, communications, advertising, or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of retail experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated success leading non-perishable and perishable department operations with integrity, including profit and loss, safety, staffing, disciplinary actions, training, developing leaders, conducting performance appraisals, meeting deadlines, managing inventory and shrink, executing sales promotions, and merchandising.
• Professional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with attention to detail, analytical, and solution-focused decisiveness.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office, bookkeeping/accounting, time and attendance, and human resources software.
• Be flexible to work a schedule that changes based on business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Have and maintain Food Safety certification.
• Able to lift 60 pounds etc.; pushing/pulling racks and merchandise.
• Stand on hard surfaces continuously and walk long distances.
• Wear PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Direct store operations and drive sales while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
• Lead a team of approximately ten people (Department Managers and Receivers) with courtesy, respect, integrity, and care.
• Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotation with attention to dates and sanitation.
• Manage invoicing from distribution centers and vendors; report discrepancies as needed.
• Develop and coach store leadership; communicate expectations and policy changes clearly.
• Ensure exceptional customer service and store execution aligned to Sprouts standards.
