Job summary

Sports Basement in San Francisco is seeking an Assistant Manager to lead daily operations with the management team and develop leadership skills. The role involves management of one department and a secondary area, with opportunities to advance and uplift staff morale.

As MOD when needed, you’ll ensure WOW customer service, train staff across departments, and collaborate with Buyers and HR tools. Starting pay is $23–$30 per hour, non-exempt.

Qualifications

• Previous retail or industry experience.
• Recent experience as an asst. Manager, Lead or Shift Supervisor or a desire to grow into a leadership role.
• A proven track record of providing constructive feedback based on performance and able to set daily and weekly tasks lists for staff.
• Able to create WOW experience for every customer.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily operations with the management team.
• Demonstrates “OK is not OK” and actively seeks out improvement opportunities for their assigned departments and personal leadership.
• Delegates and gives clear instructions to store staff and holds team accountable to complete daily tasks and store operations.
• Communicates effectively with all levels of the business (written and verbal).
• Provides support to the sales floor during peak periods or when needed.
• Maintains a positive and fun vibe that elevates the customer and staff experience.
