Job summary

Sports Basement is seeking an Assistant Manager in Los Angeles to partner with the Management Team and ensure day-to-day store operations, staff morale, and customer satisfaction. The role typically oversees one department and a small area of responsibility, with other duties assigned as needed.

The position emphasizes developing leadership skills, delegating effectively, and delivering WOW customer service while uplifting staff. Starting pay ranges $23–$30/hour, non-exempt.

Qualifications

• Retail or industry experience.
• Recent experience as an asst. Manager, Lead or Shift Supervisor or a desire to grow into a leadership role.
• Proven track record of providing constructive feedback based on performance and able to set daily and weekly tasks lists for staff.
• Able to create WOW experience for every customer.
• Strong verbal and written communication with customers and staff.
• Knowledge of HR, scheduling tools and business software: Google Docs, Paycom, Shopify, POS, Lightspeed, etc.

Responsibilities

• Apply Core Values and complete daily operations with the management team.
• Delegate tasks clearly and hold staff accountable to daily tasks and store operations.
• Communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
• Provide support to the sales floor during peak periods when needed.
• Oversee department cleanliness, organization, and inventory management.
• Collaborate with Buyers and Merchandising Team to improve product management.
