Job summary

Family Dollar in Monahans, TX is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to assist with store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with daily tasks, merchandising, opening/closing, and adherence to corporate directives.

The role requires strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage payroll, scheduling, and loss prevention while ensuring a safe, friendly shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing and pulling.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey requests and related communications.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers, associates and leaders.
• Maintain store cleanliness: bathrooms, floors, trash, neat and presentable areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
