Job summary

Family Dollar in Center, Texas is hiring an Assistant Store Manager to support daily operations, customer service, and team development. You will supervise activities, process directives, and ensure merchandise is well presented across the floor and stockroom.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork and problem solving, with responsibilities from opening/closing procedures to loss prevention and payroll/scheduling tasks. Retail experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Store management experience in retail is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational and communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and ensure compliance with store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked, clean store and organized stockroom.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep bathrooms and store areas clean and presentable; handle waste as required.
