Job summary

Family Dollar in Texas is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development.

You will assist with opening and closing, merchandise stocking, payroll and scheduling, and ensure compliance with company policies while maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for customers and staff. The role emphasizes leadership, efficiency, and daily store performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Store management experience in retail preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required
• Ability to work in a high-energy team environment
• Exceptional customer service and organizational skills required
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and store communications
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling and cash handling
• Maintain clean, stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure store assets including cash
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure staff compliance
• Help Store Manager supervise, train and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Ensure store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors and trash
• Other duties as assigned
