Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Benzonia, MI to support daily store operations and customer service. You will help organize merchandise, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with corporate directives while maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for customers and colleagues.

The role emphasizes teamwork, effective communication, and hands-on supervision to develop Store Associates and uphold company standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks (walking, standing, bending, etc.).
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional displays and fixtures
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, cash handling, and loss prevention
• Maintain clean, stocked, organized store areas per company standards
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure compliance by associates
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff
• Ensure cleanliness and restocking of bathrooms, floors, and trash removal
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor
