Job summary

Family Dollar in Monroe, MI is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, deliver excellent customer service, and develop the team.

You will assist with merchandising, opening and closing procedures, scheduling, payroll, loss prevention, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The role requires a strong communicator who can lead associates in a fast-paced, high-energy environment while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming store.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read and interpret directives is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, process damaged merchandise, payroll, scheduling, and cash handling.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure associates follow them.
• Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean, restock bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, take out trash, and maintain neat areas.
• Other duties as assigned.
