Job summary

Family Dollar in Michigan is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, assist customers, and develop the store team. You will participate in opening and closing duties, ensure promotional displays, and safeguard assets.

The role requires the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, strong communication, and a customer-focused approach. You will report to the Store Manager and help supervise and train associates while maintaining a positive, safe environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives is required
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments is preferred
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks regularly
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions
• Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom and sales floor
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, process damaged merchandise and payroll records
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to safety policies and supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe environment and professional customer interactions
• Maintain store cleanliness, restrooms, floors, and overall presentation
• Other duties as assigned
