Job summary

Family Dollar in California is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support day-to-day operations, customer service, and team development.

You will assist with store functions, merchandise flow from delivery to floor, and help supervise and train store associates while maintaining a safe, friendly environment.

This role includes opening and closing procedures, payroll and scheduling tasks, loss prevention, and ensuring promotional displays meet company standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Retail store management experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Assist in organizing merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash handling), and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines and ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean, restocked, and presentable.
