Caleres is seeking a full-time Assistant Store Manager to lead a team and deliver a best-in-class shoe shopping experience. In the absence of the Store Manager, you will assume store leadership, coach associates and ensure consistent execution of customer engagement and sales processes.

You will drive staffing, training, and daily operations, while upholding company policies and local laws. A passion for shoes and customer service is essential to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of sales experience preferred, retail experience a plus.
• Experience interviewing, hiring and training staff.
• Ability to lead, motivate and communicate with store associates at all levels.
• Ability to train, coach and develop associates for customer experience and operational tasks.
• Ability to use independent judgment with Store Sales Manager.
• Strong problem solving, decision making and basic financial analysis skills.
• Knowledge of general retail practices and procedures.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours.
• Proficient in basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspire associates to deliver exceptional customer connections and execute store standards with integrity.
• Collaborate with Store Manager to identify and hire top talent passionate about customer service and selling.
• Maintain retail operations including pricing, shipping processing, and inventory to ensure products are easily shoppable.
• Drive sales by applying location insights to improve results and achieve goals.
• Support staffing decisions provided by the Store Manager based on availability and seasonal needs.
• Assist Store Manager in coaching and developing the team; act as Store Manager when they are away.
