Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Department Head/Assistant Manager to lead Non Perishable Food and General Merchandise operations under the Store Manager. You will manage inventory, presentation, safety, and customer service, ensuring assets protection and policy compliance.

You will train managers, schedule coverage, assess performance, and coordinate with vendors to maintain stock and pricing accuracy while supporting store initiatives and productivity targets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary business school training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews and recommends hiring for store positions and assigns staff.
• Trains department managers on stock levels, ordering, and merchandise handling.
• Ensures scheduling coverage with Store Manager and monitors performance with corrective actions.
• Maintains relationships with vendors to ensure timely deliveries and accurate billing.
• Oversees 7 Day Workflow Plan, shelf stocking, pricing, and display standards.
• Ensures inventory controls, shrink reduction, and accurate scanning/paperwork.
• Maintains customer service focus and safety compliance across store operations.
