Job summary

Family Dollar in South Bend, IN is seeking a full-time Store Associate/Team Member to support daily store operations, assist customers, and help maintain shelves and displays.

You will participate in opening/closing, stocking, and loss prevention while supporting the Store Manager in training staff and upholding company standards. This role emphasizes customer service, safety, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, reading and interpreting operational directives required.
• Retail store management experience in grocery or drug store environments preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform routine store duties.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-energy, team environment.
• Excellent customer service, organization, and problem-solving skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns they may have
• Help organize, and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process all corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy and other communications
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts), and loss prevention
• Maintain clean, well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies, safety guidelines, and ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, bathrooms, floors, and overall appearance
• Other duties as assigned
