Job summary

Dollar Tree in South Bend, IN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help oversee daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will assist with opening/closing procedures, merchandising, scheduling, and loss prevention while maintaining a clean, safe store.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and prior store management experience in retail. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives from signage and planograms.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environments preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize merchandise flow from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communicate store-related updates.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, handle damaged goods, and support payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized per company standards.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and store procedures.
• Help store manager supervise, train, and develop associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain cleanliness, restrooms, floors, and trash removal; keep areas neat.
