Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores INC is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Chicago to support store operations, drive customer service excellence, and develop the store team. The role focuses on daily store activities, merchandising, and ensuring a safe, high-energy environment for customers and colleagues.

The position involves opening/closing procedures, assisting in scheduling and payroll, and maintaining stockroom to floor transfers while upholding company standards and directives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; ability to read, interpret operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail preferred.
• Lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Customer service, organizational and problem-solving skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, payroll/scheduling, cash deposits, and loss prevention
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to safety guidelines and company policies; ensure associates comply
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff
• Maintain cleanliness of the store, bathrooms, floors, and trash disposal
• Other duties as assigned
