Role Overview

The Assistant Store Manager supports store operations by maintaining a clean, organized environment focused on customer satisfaction. Under the Store Manager’s guidance, they supervise staff, manage merchandise presentation, handle paperwork, and assist with financial tasks such as deposits. They perform stocking, cashiering, and other duties to maximize profitability, protect assets, and ensure excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver superior customer service, greet customers, and operate registers.
• Assist with employee scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise through receiving, stocking, rotating, and display setup following planograms.
• Maintain accurate inventory, control damages and markdowns, and ensure proper merchandise presentation.
• Support financial integrity by managing cash handling, refunds, deposits, and security practices.
• Assist in store management during the Store Manager’s absence.

Qualifications & Skills

• Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret manuals, perform math calculations, and operate cash registers.
• Knowledge of cash, safety, and security policies.
• Experience in retail and supervisory roles preferred; high school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.

Working Conditions

• Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 40-55 pounds.
• Use of equipment such as scanners, pricing guns, and carts.
• Fast-paced environment with occasional outside weather exposure and driving requirements for deposits and store visits.
