Job summary

Family Dollar is looking for an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, provide excellent customer service, and help develop the store team. You will assist with opening and closing procedures, organize merchandise, handle stockroom tasks, and ensure storefront displays remain inviting.

The role requires strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on maintaining a safe, efficient, and friendly shopping environment for customers and staff alike.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks as described.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers positively and address questions or concerns.
• Organize merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional displays and store front fixtures.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, payroll and cash handling, and loss prevention.
• Keep store areas well-stocked and organized per company standards.
• Protect store assets, including cash, and ensure security procedures.
• Ensure adherence to policies, safety guidelines, and procedures by associates.
• Assist Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment with professional interactions with customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
