Job summary

Family Dollar in Steelton, PA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, enhance customer service, and develop the store team. You will help manage merchandise flow, assist customers, and uphold company standards.

This role requires the ability to lead in a fast-paced environment, perform opening/closing procedures, oversee scheduling and payroll tasks, and ensure a clean, welcoming store that protects assets and follows policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Help organize merchandise transfer from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process directives including compliance, surveys, and communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of storefront fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits) and loss prevention.
• Maintain store areas to company standards (well-stocked floor and organized stockroom).
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure staff follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean including restrooms, floors, trash, and overall presentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
