Job summary

Goodwill Houston is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for the Donated Goods Program (DGP) to support the Store Manager and District Manager in daily operations, leadership, and donor flow management. You will lead customer service, oversee donation processing, quality control, and a productive workforce, ensuring efficient, cost-effective operations and adherence to policies.

The role emphasizes hands-on coaching, scheduling, labor monitoring, and performance documentation to drive KPI targets

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Management experience is preferred.
• One (1) to two (2) years of retail sales experience is preferred.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holidays, evenings, overnight, and weekend shifts.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Open/close store and manage daily operations.
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate associates.
• Adhere to working the established rotating schedule unless otherwise directed or approved by the District Manager.
• Maintain open availability for management needs outside the rotating schedule.
• Ensure completion of daily management duties.
• Ensure the Safety Program is managed efficiently.
• Manage and influence the team by communicating clear company goals.
• Post schedules, review time sheets, and monitor labor hours.
• Accurately operate sales transactions and cash handling at POS registers/safe.
• Coach by Walking Around (CBWA) for ~80% of the time.
• Operate store systems and ensure counts are completed.
• Rotate apparel and hard goods according to policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
