Job summary

Dollar Tree Stores INC in Machesney Park, Illinois is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support store operations, customer service and team development.

You will assist with daily tasks, organize merchandise, train associates, and help maintain a safe, friendly and efficient shopping environment for customers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must lift up to 55 lbs and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment; provide exceptional customer service.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns
• Help organize merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas
• Perform opening and closing procedures
• Process all corporate directives and communications related to store activities
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store-front fixtures and displays
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping including payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts, and loss prevention
• Maintain store areas to company standards
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates
• Ensure a positive, safe environment with professional interactions with customers, associates, and leaders
• Maintain store cleanliness, restocking bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping areas neat and presentable
