Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager in Elizabeth, NJ to support store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with day-to-day activities, assist customers, and ensure merchandise flow from delivery to sales floor while maintaining cleanliness and safety.

The role requires strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical duties as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise between delivery, stockroom, and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and related store communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for storefronts.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, and record keeping.
• Maintain well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect company assets, including store cash, and follow policies.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Maintain store cleanliness including bathrooms, floors, and trash removal.
• Other duties as assigned.
