Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help maintain a clean, organized store focused on customer service. You will assist the Store Manager with staff supervision, merchandise management, deposits, and loss prevention.

The role includes stocking, cashiering duties, and ensuring store profitability while protecting assets. Prior supervisory experience and strong communication, math, and leadership skills are desirable for a progressive retail career.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations.
• Good organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Manage merchandise by receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking and displaying per planograms.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, and scans.
• Assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms and displays.
• Support cashier accountability, cash control procedures, refunds, and deposits; sign for overrides.
• Assist with store management in Store Manager's absence.
