Job summary

NAPA in Billings, MT is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead store operations, sales, and service. You will support the Store Manager across all functions while maintaining active customer-facing duties and coaching the team to achieve performance targets.

In this role you will oversee opening/closing routines, scheduling and compliance tasks, manage inventory and loss prevention, and build lasting relationships with customers. Strong automotive knowledge and leadership are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; related technical/trade courses a plus.
• Experience in automotive after-market or willingness to learn.
• Leadership experience in retail or service environments.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Partner daily with Store Manager on operations, sales, inventory, labor/scheduling, and team performance.
• Actively sell and build customer relationships across channels (in-store, phone, dealer/wholesale).
• Model expected behaviors, processes, and customer standards.
• Oversee opening and closing routines, cash reconciliation, end-of-day reporting.
• Handle scheduling input, compliance documentation, performance tracking/reporting.
• Monitor sales, inventory accuracy/turn, customer satisfaction, and labor efficiency.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for the store team.
• Develop talent and mentor successors for advancement.
• Drive safety, asset protection, and continuous improvement initiatives.
