Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  1. Acts as Manager on Duty in the absence of Store Manager, performing all necessary functions for successful store operation.
  2. Executes weekly and seasonal merchandising plans for each department, ensuring price accuracy to meet sales goals. Manages inventory levels, Computer Generated Orders (CGO), and supply quantities to meet customer demands and company gross profit goals. Oversees physical inventory processes for Fresh and Center Store departments.
  3. Drives engagement by communicating with customers and providing feedback and service results to associates. Trains and develops associates to resolve customer issues promptly and effectively. Conducts daily huddles to discuss priorities, goals, and updates with staff.
  4. Reviews schedules of department managers and associates to meet business needs while achieving budgeted payroll and sales-per-labor-hour goals. Oversees work assignments to utilize talents effectively and maximize profits. Ensures compliance with all labor laws, including lunch breaks and scheduling restrictions.
  5. Oversees procedures for receiving, producing, and replenishing merchandise, including inspecting deliveries, pricing accuracy, freshness, quality, and product rotation. Maintains logs according to company policy.
  6. Enforces housekeeping standards in each department, maintaining cleanliness and freshness to meet food safety and sanitation standards. Ensures safety and compliance with OSHA requirements, as well as weights and measures laws.
  7. Implements training programs to enhance management and staff knowledge. Identifies and develops associates for advancement. Manages performance through feedback, coaching, and recognition. Monitors competitors concerning merchandising, pricing, and signage.
  8. Performs daily store walks to identify successes and opportunities, provide guidance, and be accessible to staff and customers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directs department managers and supervisors. Oversees department and store performance, especially in the absence of the store manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without accommodations. Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or GED; two years relevant retail experience. An associate's or bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred.
RATE OF PAY AND BENEFITS

The starting hourly pay is $62,000, up to $72,000.
