Job summary

BibliU is seeking an Assistant Store Manager at SOWELA Tech Community College in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The role focuses on planning, organizing and managing all areas of a retail location to meet budgeted goals and coordinate with the regional manager to maintain textbook and general merchandise inventory.

You will recruit, train and supervise staff, handle daily cash operations and data entry, respond to calls and emails, and travel to remote locations each semester.

Qualifications

• Three to five years’ experience in a college bookstore or retail operation.
• Two years in supervisory capacity.
• Excellent team building skills and communication abilities.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain good working relationship with faculty for key information in text and general merchandise.
• Schedule regular appointments and meet with administrative personnel to build rapport and prevent problems.
• Recruit, hire, train and maintain staff at appropriate levels per guidelines and budgets.
• Daily cash register operations, data entry of textbook information, receiving and stocking, end-of-day balancing.
• Answering telephone and email; all areas of customer service.
• Traveling to and operating remote locations during each semester.

Position Overview

The Assistant Store Manager helps plan, organize and manage all areas in a retail location. The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for meeting or exceeding budgeted goals and works closely with the regional manager to communicate needs in order to maintain appropriate inventory levels in textbooks and general merchandise.

What you will be doing:

• Develop and maintain a good working relationship with the faculty to obtain key information in the text area and general merchandise areas.
• Schedule regular appointments and meet with the appropriate administrative personnel to build rapport, discuss situations and avoid potential problems.
• Recruit, hire, train and maintain staff at appropriate levels according to company guidelines and budgets.
• Daily cash register operations, daily data entry of textbook information, textbook receiving and stocking as well as end of day balancing.
• Answering telephone and email, all areas of customer service.
• Traveling to and operating remote locations during each semester.

What we are looking for

Must have:

• Three (3) to five (5) years’ in a college bookstore or retail operation;
• Two (2) years: supervisory capacity;
• Excellent team building skills;
• Demonstrated administrative skills;
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Excellent use of Microsoft Office Software.

Good to have:

• Two (2) years of college or its equivalent.
